The SEXIH03, a pair of jeans collaboratively designed by Self Edge and Iron Heart, is apparently the first of its kind to be tailored with cyclists in mind. Made in Japan from apparently the world’s heaviest weight denim, it offers special features like extra belt loops at the rear of the waistband to avoid torn loops from backpack usage and to prevent the pulling down of the waistband if a belt is worn while riding, spring -oaded clip metal key fob hanging from the front belt loop, reinforced crotch rivet, crotch cross-stitch an inch forward to delay crotch blow-outs and for rider comfort, rear pockets sized to fit a mini U-Lock, higher rise in the back, and lower rise in the front for maximum comfort and mobility. Only 125 pairs of the selvedge indigo model and 25 of the non-selvedge black model were made available at a suggested retail price of $360. More

A pair of vintage 1890s Levi's Button Fly 201 denim jeans fetched US$24,995.95 on eBay. It has apparently been stored in its original uncleaned state in a safety deposit box in Frenchtown, Montana since being discovered a few years ago. More

1. Swallow your pride Or at least your impatience, and do the thing that probably drives you mad when your wife or girlfriend does it: spend some time in a department store, trying lots of different styles. You wouldn't buy a television without watching it first.

2. Find your length Long, loose jeans that scuff the pavement will inevitably lose their structure at the hem, looking messy and studenty. Waistbands should sit no higher than just above the hip bones, and the lower edge of your back pockets should finish below the top of the thigh, as the sight of the male buttock, fully outlined, is perhaps not your strongest asset.

3. Find your width Sharply tapered, drainpipe legs aren't a good idea unless you are either whippet-thin or under 30. But that doesn't mean loose fit is necessarily the answer.
